Back to the Basics

Back to the Basics

Have you ever had a week when all of those old sayings apply to your life? Let me give you a few. If there is an emergency on a plane, put your mask on first. You can lead a horse to the well, but you can’t make it drink. Don’t take any wooden nickels (that’s my mom’s favorite). Do unto others as you’d have them do unto you. Patience is a virtue (I once had to write that 50 times during my junior year of high school). I could go on and on. You get the point.

Celebrating One Year... and Counting

Celebrating One Year... and Counting

Time sure does fly by quickly. Angela Spears Communication is a year old! I can’t believe my company is celebrating its first year in business. For the past few months, I have continuously asked myself if it was a smart decision or stupid decision to go out on my own. I don’t regret this experience. In fact, I am having fun. I love what I do!

Service with a Smile

Service with a Smile

I am thankful that my business continues to grow. I put in a lot of hard work and long hours. This is no surprise to many entrepreneurs. I laugh when my mother asks me, “Why can’t you get all of your work done during the day?” It doesn’t always work that way. I don’t know about you, but I learn something new every day. I want to share some tips that I have picked up along the way.

Building That Great Team

Building That Great Team

We all know it is so important to surround yourself with positive people. You need people around you who believe in your dream. As a small business owner, this is extremely important. There are many long days and late nights. As you are growing, the pay scale may not be what you initially want to make or are able to pay. But, you still have to find a way to get that great team. Then, you have to motivate and inspire the team.

Be Ready for Growth

Be Ready for Growth

Growth and an increase in revenue are at the top of every small business owner’s list. According to James Cash Penney, the founder of JCPenney, “Growth is never by mere chance; it is the result of forces working together." Don’t you love it when a plan falls into place? When it happens, you have to be prepared for the boost.

A Little Sacrifice... For Now

A Little Sacrifice... For Now

There are so many resources to assist small business owners. Please do your research and take advantage of the opportunities. The daily grind and hustle of trying to make it all work definitely keep you busy, but you have to find the time to network and apply for bids or projects. Please know that I do try to abide by my advice. I spent several hours for two days this week doing the necessary paperwork to help my business grow.

Worth Every Penny

Worth Every Penny

This life as a small business owner continues to amaze me. I always tell my friends that I don’t know if this was a smart decision to go out on my own or if it was a stupid one. Despite the challenges, I love what I do! I love sharing the “Power of Your Voice.” I have advice for other entrepreneurs - hang in there. Don’t give up.

Make Time for Success

Make Time for Success

Small business owners often stay on the go. We are busy with our clients, in meetings, posting on social media or researching ideas that help us stay ahead of the game. I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to make time to do the little things. I am talking about logging mileage, making my 10 - 20 calls (some of them are cold calls) a week or doing other administrative work for the business.
